04 — The method

Frankincense is not a fragrance. It is the original breath.

乳香

Luban

Hojari frankincense from Dhofar — the peninsula’s original breath. Lit, not performed. Harvested twice a year by families who have kept the trees.

Wa

Written as O, spoken as Wa. The Japanese spirit of harmony: attending to one thing, leaving space, refusing spectacle.

Karada

The body as a place, not a project. Personal training that is precise without being harsh, and unhurried without being vague.

Hojari on charcoal. A six-second listening.

English took the word from old French — franc encens, high incense. In Oman it is luban; in the Dhofar mountains, a Boswellia tree offers about a kilogram a year. We do not claim what the resin has not yet proven in a registry. We light it, we attend, we let the week become quieter.

The Japanese contribution is not costume. It is ma — meaningful empty space — and the discipline of one thing at a time. Kyoto taught the candy. Muscat teaches the breath.

05 — Kyoto × Salalah

Our history is a meeting, not a merger.

A Kyoto moss garden dissolving into the frankincense mountains of Dhofar

Written as O, pronounced Wa: the Japanese character for harmony. Tomoko Kojima has lived in Oman since 2008. The candy came first because yoga needed a clean pearl of energy. The house comes now because a confection was never the whole practice.

  1. 2008

    Muscat

Tomoko Kojima makes Oman her home. Yoga is already a practice. Frankincense is already in the air.

  2. 2014–15

    The pearl

Purewells LLC and O [wa] are founded. Kyoto kyo-ame masters meet premium Hojari. The world’s first luxury frankincense confection.

  3. 2025

    Osaka

O [wa] is poured at the Oman Pavilion, Expo 2025. The candy that began as a yoga snack becomes a meeting of two nations.

  4. 2026

    The house

WA Wellness opens the practice that was always underneath the pearl: ritual, movement, and training in the spirit of harmony.

06 — Who we are

Tomoko Kojima

Tomoko Kojima, founder of WA Wellness, in the Muscat studio
Founder · certified yoga teacher · Purewells LLC · Muscat since 2008

“Harmony is not a mood. It is a practice you can return to.”

Tomoko is a Japanese wellness practitioner and certified yoga teacher who has made Muscat her home for nearly two decades. In 2015 she founded O [wa], blending Dhofar’s Hojari frankincense with Kyoto kyo-ame craft — later poured at the Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, and received by the Embassy of Japan in Oman. LUXlife named O [wa] Best Artisan Therapeutic Confectionery Brand in the GCC, 2024.

WA Wellness is the practice underneath the pearl. Personal training here is not a hotel gym hour. It is considered strength, mobility, and breath, held with the same omotenashi she brings to a tasting table: needs anticipated, spectacle refused, the week made quieter.
